I am dedicated to providing superior representation to every individual that I represent. I have been a lawyer for nearly 10 years and have a proven track record of consistent sustained success in every area that I practice. My office is conveniently located in the historic Main Grind Building on Main Street in Ellsworth, Maine.

I have been practicing law since 2005. I represent people charged with crimes in Maine state courts in a number of coastal counties. My practice regularly brings me to Androscoggin, Cumberland, Kennebec, Knox, Lincoln, Sagadahoc, York, and Waldo counties. My clients typically have cases in Superior Court and District Court. The people I help range from juveniles to adults. Everyone deserves a vigorous defense, every case is important, and everyone deserves to be treated with respect. I do not judge my clients, I defend them.

Ben grew up in Portland, Maine, attended public schools and graduated from Deering High School in 1989. Ben attended Cornell University in Ithaca, NY and earned his law degree from the Yale Law School. Ben began his career in private practice at a large, multi-national law firm, Latham & Watkins, in New York City. He practiced there for several years before deciding to return to Maine to join Maine’s largest plaintiff’s law firm. In 2021, Ben left that firm and formed Gideon Asen LLC. I have been practicing immigration law in the mid-coast region of Maine since 2013, after almost 20 years working in natural resources conservation law and policy. My interest in immigration is both professional and personal. I was a landed immigrant (permanent resident) of Canada for several years and, after returning to the U.S. adopted both of my children internationally. I love learning and working across cultures and am a strong believer in the need to attract new immigrants to this region.

Catherine joined Jones, Kuriloff & Sargent, LLC in March of 2016. Prior to that, she operated her own law practice in Ellsworth, Maine, where she worked with clients on real estate, probate, and civil matters. She worked at Sandra Hylander Collier Law Offices from 1997 until 2010, where she carried out real estate transactions, drafted estate planning documents, authored appellate briefs, and handled small business law. Ross is a former prosecutor with extensive courtroom litigation experience. Ross has spent over 18 years in both Maine and Texas practicing as a criminal lawyer. Ross recently spent almost two years as an assistant district attorney in Kennebec/Somerset District Attorney's Office. During this time Ross was the prosecutor for sex crimes, domestic violence and arson for Somerset county. In addition, he shared prosecution duties for all other crimes in the county. Meryl is a Maine native and attended Colby College and the University of Maine School of Law. At Maine Law school, Meryl distinguished herself as an appellate advocate, winning the distinction of "Prize Arguer" in her class and the Gignoux Award for Appellate Advocacy. Meryl was a part of two moot court teams that competed on a national level. In her third year, she and her moot court partner finished in the top three of a competition of more than forty. After law school, Meryl worked at a large law firm in Portland defending medical malpractice and personal injury cases....
