Paula Howker Amick attended Erskine College where she received a B.A. in English and graduated summa cum laude in 1989. For her J.D. Derek E. Brown graduated from Toccoa Falls College (B.A. History) where he was a starting pitcher and outfielder for the baseball team and interned for Congressman Paul Broun’s district office in Toccoa, Georgia.
