She graduated from IU Maurer School of Law (1979, cum laude), the National College of Criminal Defense and the Darrow College of Capital Defense. Kristina was born in Poughkeepsie, New York. Her family moved to Olathe, Kansas when she was five years old. She later moved to Indiana when she was fifteen years old. After attending Westfield High School, she earned her Bachelors of Arts degree in French and Psychology from Butler University, cum laude.
