Sydney Smith was born and raised in Miami, Florida. In 2017, she received her Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science with a double major in Sociology from Florida State University. After attending FSU, she came back home to Miami and obtained her Juris Doctorate from the University of Miami School of Law. Daniel is native Floridian, a United States Navy Veteran and a retired Highlands County Deputy Sheriff. Daniel served as a Police Officer for City of Sebring and before that was a Police Officer for Town of Arcadia.

Daniel has worked as a consultant and legal advisor for a local construction firm, and has provided legal services to several local businesses. Daniel has also served as an active member the City of Sebring Planning and Zoning board.
