I have practiced solely in the area of consumer bankruptcy law since I began practicing in 2000. Our firm only represents Debtors and we have been in practice continuously since 1978. In January 2009, I became a partner of the firm and name was changed to "Padgett & Robertson". I am extremely proud of the work we accomplish and the people whom I've been able to help over the years.

Christopher Kern has represented individual and business clients for over 25 years in Alabama, and in courts in other states. Because of his vast experience in bankruptcy law, Kern does a substantial amount of creditor and debtor bankruptcy work, including corporate reorganization in Chapter 11. Recognizing that his clients are also involved in other legal matters, Kern is also happy to assist his clients in areas such as wills, real estate, family law and general business matters.

I have been practicing law in Mobile since 1973 and have limited my practice to bankruptcy only for the past 20 years. I also served as a Chapter 7 Trustee for approximately 20 years; and this experience has been a valuable tool in representing debtors in Chapter 7 cases.

For over 25 years, Mr. Underwood has represented clients in class actions and complex litigation in state and federal courts, including coordinated and multi-district proceedings. Soon after Mr. Underwood received his license, he served as the Chapter 7 Bankruptcy Trustee in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court of the Northern District of Alabama Eastern Division from 1987 until 1988.
