William Hellams
William “Will” Hellams is the founder of Hellams Law, LLC, where he fights for seriously injured plaintiffs, individuals facing criminal charges, and those whose civil rights have been violated. His background in public safety, criminal defense, insurance defense, and civil rights litigation gives him a unique perspective that allows him to advocate strategically and effectively for his clients.
Before launching his firm, Will gained valuable trial experience as an Assistant Public Defender in South Carolina’s Thirteenth Circuit. He also clerked for the Honorable Perry H. Gravely of the Thirteenth Judicial Circuit, deepening his understanding of trial strategy and judicial decision-making. During law school, he served as a Senator for the Student Bar Association, a student attorney in the MacArthur Justice Clinic, and co-founded Magnolia Defenders, an organization supporting aspiring public defenders.
Will also worked as an insurance defense attorney, representing transportation companies involved in serious accidents. His time at a prominent regional firm specializing in transportation and logistics defense gave him firsthand insight into how insurance companies handle catastrophic injury cases. Now, he uses that knowledge to fight for injured plaintiffs, ensuring they receive the compensation they deserve.
With nearly 20 years of public safety experience, most notably as a paramedic with six lifesaving awards, Will has a deep understanding of trauma and crisis management. His ability to remain calm under pressure and advocate fiercely for those in need sets him apart.
At Hellams Law, Will leverages his legal expertise, public safety background, and insurance industry insight to provide personalized, strategic representation. Outside the office, he enjoys spending time with his wife, and their children, as well as playing guitar, attending live music events, traveling, and fishing.
