Seth L. Cardeli
Levin & Perconti
Seth L. Cardeli is a Partner at Levin & Perconti in Chicago. With more than a decade of experience, he is a skilled trial attorney who represents families across the U.S. affected by medical negligence and malpractice, particularly those involving birth-injured children.
Seth has expertise in the complex medical and legal challenges of birth-injury litigation. He regularly delivers educational seminars for fellow attorneys on topics such as depositions and overcoming discovery obstacles. He recently taught “Basic Fetal Heart Rate Patterns, Nomenclature, and Etiology,” helping lawyers interpret electronic fetal heart study data. He has also authored articles in legal journals examining issues like negligent newborn resuscitation.
After earning his J.D. from Brooklyn Law School in 2008, Seth began his career at a respected New York personal injury firm. Three years later, he moved to Maryland to work with a firm that allowed him to take on medical malpractice cases nationwide. He has secured pro hac vice admissions in multiple states, including Arizona, Illinois, Minnesota, Ohio, Texas, Vermont, Virginia, Wisconsin, Missouri, and more
Seth’s advocacy has delivered substantial results for families, including a $40 million birth-injury verdict, a $29 million settlement in a delayed C-section case at UIC Medical Center, and a $20 million verdict for a child who suffered preventable hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy (HIE) and asphyxia at birth. In 2024, he received the Trial Excellence award from the Jury Verdict Reporter for the $40 million verdict, which was the highest reported medical malpractice verdict outside Cook County and the highest ever in Coles County.
He is deeply engaged in the trial-lawyer community, serving as Co-Chair of the American Association for Justice’s (AAJ) Birth Trauma Litigation Group and holding leadership positions on AAJ’s PAC Task Force, Membership Oversight Committee, Public Affairs Committee, and Publications Committee.
