- Q. Can I file an answer to a debt collection petition without an attorney in Louisiana?
- A: Yes, you can-----representing yourself does not change the fact that you are subject to the law and procedure of a Court--including the 10 day deadline--- however you can represent yourself. I suggest that you contact the Clerk of the Court this matter was filed in and ask if they have a help desk and/or forms available----this might be found on the website if the Clerk has a website. Also, I would contact the local bar association to see if they have a service when you can receive a short attorney consutlation for free or at a reduced rate. That way, at least you have some legal guidance in what to prepare and submit. Good luck.
- Q. How can I locate and access trust funds without specified location?
- A: You probably should start with your father and see if he can/will provide this information. If he is unable/unwilling to voluntarily do so then I suggest you seek a legal consultation with an attorney in your area to discuss how to proceed which could include filing paperwork to bring your father into court and/or take his deposition to provide this information if he can. Good luck.
- Q. How can I avoid forced move out by July 31 in Louisiana?
- A: More information is needed here and as such I suggest you contact a lawyer in your area to discuss the specifics of your situation. If you lease is 1 year which 1 year ends on August 1 and your landlord wants you out on July 31, I suspect something can be worked out if you are willing to leave on August1. But there is more to this. Also, if you are on a month to month, then the landlord can require you to vacate at the conclusion of the month, but there are some notice requirements the landlord has to follow and which might be in the lease you signed so please take a look at your lease. Good luck.
