Matthew David Stombaugh
Advocate for the injured—guided by empathy, driven by story, focused on justice.
Matt is known known for his deep empathy, sharp litigation skills, and unwavering dedication to those who have suffered harm.
Since beginning his legal career in 2018, Matt has represented hundreds of individuals and families in complex cases involving medical malpractice, nursing home abuse, catastrophic injury, truck wrecks, and wrongful death. He has litigated across Tennessee, Arkansas, and Ohio, managing cases from intake to resolution and appearing in both state and federal courts. His trial experience includes multiple jury trials and high-stakes litigation involving tractor-trailer collisions, defective medical devices, medical malpractice, and civil rights violations.
Currently a Senior Associate at Altizer Law, P.C., Matt brings strategic clarity and genuine compassion to every case. He is particularly skilled at distilling a client’s experience into compelling advocacy—ensuring their voice is heard, their story is honored, and their rights are protected.
A graduate of the University of Memphis School of Law, Matt served as Chief Justice of the Moot Court Board and competed on the National Mock Trial Team. He is a recipient of multiple academic honors and was recognized as a Super Lawyers Rising Star in 2023—an accolade awarded to attorneys who demonstrate excellence early in their careers.
Whether standing beside a client in the courtroom or guiding them through difficult moments outside of it, Matt remains driven by one purpose: to pursue justice with integrity, empathy, and purpose.
