Katherine Ann Young
East Tennessee probate of estates, last will packages, & small business matters.
I have extensive experience in handling the probate of estates across various counties in East Tennessee. The probate process in Tennessee typically spans about six months, but working with an attorney can simplify this process significantly. My practice includes probate litigation, particularly for will contests. Additionally, I prepare comprehensive Last Will and Testament packages for clients, which include a Durable Power of Attorney for Healthcare, a Living Will, and a Master HIPAA release. I also handle the creation of Durable General Powers of Attorney, Quitclaim Deeds, and Revocations of Powers of Attorney.
In the realm of employment law, my practice is focused on specific areas including reviewing non-compete agreements, severance packages, and handling wage and hour or overtime claims. I have successfully assisted clients such as electricians, HVAC technicians, package delivery drivers, and home health care workers in recovering unpaid overtime wages.
Before my current practice, I spent five years as an Assistant Professor and four years as a Lecturer at the University of Tennessee. My background also includes roles as a Human Services Hearing Officer and a Human Rights Investigator for the State of New Mexico. I am licensed to practice in Tennessee and California and admitted to practice before the U.S. Supreme Court, U.S. Tax Court, the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals, and various district courts including the Eastern and Middle Districts of Tennessee and the Southern District of California. I am also admitted to all state courts in Tennessee and California.
