Q. if i was convicted for a felonly in 2006 what would happen now if i get caught with a gun in mn
A: If you are prohibited from possessing a firearm due to a prior felony charge, being caught with a felony could result in a charge for unlawful possession by an ineligible person pursuant to Minnesota Statute 624.713. This is a serious felony charge which carries significant prison time. However, the specific consequences would depend on your criminal history and myriad other factors.
Q. Can I get my 5th degree possession charges dropped in Hennepin county mn if they held me past the 72 hour time frame?
A: Unfortunately, no. You should be released if they exceed the legal timeline to hold you before seeing a judge, however, dismissal is not a remedy for being held beyond the legal timeframe.
