I was born & raised in Mobile, Alabama. I finished high school at St. Paul’s Episcopal High School. Then, I started college at Birmingham-Southern College in the honors program. Later, I transferred to the University of Alabama, where I thrived academically. I was on the President’s List & in the English Honor Society during this time. In the 90s, I took the Crimson Tide rugby team to the East Coast playoffs. This was the first time in the team's history. After a short time playing for the East Coast All-Star team, I chose to focus on my studies instead of professional rugby.
I went to the University of Alabama at Birmingham. There, I worked on a master’s degree in literature. My focus was on Anglo-Saxon literature. I continued my academic journey by studying law. I earned my first law degree from Mississippi College of Law. I graduated in the top quarter of my class. I improved my education by getting a Master of Law degree. I graduated with honors from the University of Alabama Law School.
My legal career has been diverse. I have worked with the Mississippi Attorney General’s Office. I served as a judicial clerk for Judge James M. Moody at the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Arkansas. I also practiced at several law firms before starting my own practice in 2009. From 2015 to 2020, I worked as an Administrative Law Judge for the Mississippi State Personnel Board. I was part of the Employee Appeals Board. My contributions to the field have been recognized twice by the Mississippi Journal for my Leadership in the Law.
I have enjoyed teaching law while also practicing it. I have taught trial practice, business law, criminal law, domestic law, and paralegal studies. I taught at the University of Southern Mississippi, Tulane University, and Mississippi College.
