Has represented secured and unsecured creditors including banks, major oil companies, steel companies, mineral companies, food companies and numerous other fortune 500 companies, major landlords, creditors' committees, debtors, equity holders and equity holders' committees and third parties including landlords, equipment lessors, purchasers of assets, funders of plans, lenders, shareholders and consignors in Chapter 11 cases, plaintiffs and defendants in actions for preferences and fraudulent conveyances. Has represented trustees and debtors in Chapter 7 cases. Has previously represented assignors and assignees in assignments for the benefits of creditors, and buyers and sellers in bulk sales. Has represented banks against debtors in Chapter 11 and Chapter 7 cases and in out of court workouts. Has represented a wide range of Chapter 11 debtors, and confirmed plans for debtors including manufacturers, real estate, limited partnerships, retail and department store chains, not-for-profit entities, a public company that had owned Spice and sold it to Playboy, mail order businesses, motels, nightclubs, advertising agencies, recording studios, a movie producer, and the Beacon Theatre, an operator of a famous two thousand seven hundred seat theatre. He recently represented a woman who received $8,000,000 in her divorce settlement. SHer ex-husbanded is serving a 100 year term for his Ponzi scheme. She paid the Chapter 11 trustee who sued her nothing in their settlement. In the course of representing Chapter 11 debtors, he has assumed and negotiated cases, "crammed down" classes of creditors, negotiated plans, subordinated claims, avoided liens, sold properties free of liens, obtained financing, and had property turned over to the debtor. Has represented creditors' committees for Chapter 11 debtors such as a metal and machine tool business, retail store chains, manufacturers, and the general partner in sixty-five limited partnerships involving two hundred sixty-five oil and gas wells. Harris D. Leinwand has successfully represented parties in WorldCom, Enron, Calpine, Delphi, 1031 Tax Group, Dana, LTV, Grand Union, Kentile, and Macy's and is now representing parties in Delphi, Lyondell and Chemtura. Has successfully moved to vacate stays, convert Chapter 11 cases to Chapter 7 cases, dismiss Chapter 11 cases, have Chapter 11 trustees appointed and have courts abstain from hearing cases or proceedings.
