Biography

I am a versatile family law attorney attorney who is skilled in bringing resolution to complex and simple family law matters. I combine my education and professional experience with personal experience to guide clients with strategic legal advice, compassionate support and solution-focused advocacy.

As a family law attorney and former social worker, I am experienced in helping clients with domestic, family law and divorce issues including paternity, legitimation, child custody modification, child support modification, grandparent visitation, enforcement of court orders, family violence and pre- and post-nuptial agreements. I also act as a Guardian ad Litem in contested custody cases and mediate family law cases.

Before I helped start Kaye, Lembeck, Hitt & French, I was a partner at Warner Bates, where I practiced for fourteen years. My work in family and domestic law has garnered multiple awards, including recognition as one of Atlanta Magazine’s Super Lawyers, Rising Stars and Top Women Attorneys in Georgia; Georgia Trend’s Legal Elite, Best Advocate and Member, 1st Place Team in the 2006 William W. Daniel National Invitational Mock Trial Competition; and Outstanding Student, Weltner Inn of Court, 2006/2007.

I contributed to Georgia Divorce, a guide to divorce practice published by Thomson Reuters, from 2008 to 2021. I also co-authored the Domestic Relations section of Mercer Law Review’s Annual Survey of Georgia Law from 2008-2021.

I was raised in Columbus, Georgia. I attended the University of Georgia and Georgia State University. I am married with two children. I am active professionally with the Georgia Association of Women Lawyers, the State Bar of Georgia, the Atlanta Bar Association, the Dekalb Bar Association, the Cobb Bar Association and Weltner Family law Inn of Court. Personally, I am active in my church and in my children's schools.

4 Questions Answered
Q. Can a non-custodial parent get visitation modified to add school days if he lives 45 minutes from the school?
A: Your former husband can seek to modify parenting time based on a material change in circumstances at any time, or can seek to modify parenting time for any reason once in every two year period following the original judgment. Either way, the change in parenting time must be in the best interests of the children. This is a factual determination that would include looking at the age of the children, how they are doing in school, the drive time between their school and their father's home, what time their school day begins, if he makes sure they do homework and are prepared for the school day, etc. The judge would look at all the facts to make the determination.
Q. I am trying to start the divorce process with my husband who ran off with our daughter out of state. I haven’t been able
A: Because you are the mother, you should be able to contact the school and get your daughter's school records, which should include the address where she and your husband reside. Once you know this, you can file for divorce and have him served to begin the divorce process. Whether you should file for divorce in Georgia or in the state where he currently resides depends on how long they have lived outside of Georgia.
Q. Married for about 3 years and cant do anymore
A: You can seek a divorce based on the marriage being irretrievably broken. An attorney can advise you about child custody and parenting time, child support and division of marital assets.
