Daniel S. Perlman
Perlman Legal, LLC
Daniel Perlman has more than a decade of experience helping families who have children with special needs. He previously served as the case law attorney for Massachusetts Advocates for Children (MAC), one of the first educational advocacy organizations for children in the nation. Since then, he has represented hundreds (and hundreds) of families who have children with special needs from across the Commonwealth. He is a graduate of Northeastern University School of Law and the University of Massachusetts, where he graduated magna cum laude.
Since 2015, Attorney Perlman has been selected for inclusion in the Massachusetts Super Lawyers directory, which recognizes the top 5% of attorneys in Massachusetts who demonstrate excellence in their practice. He also served on the Advisory Board of Exceptional Lives and is a member of the Council of Parent Attorneys and Advocates (COPAA) and the Special Needs Advocacy Network (SPAN).
In addition to his practice, Attorney Perlman created and manages Special Education Law (specialedlaw.com), a free resource for parents, advocates, educators, and attorneys in Massachusetts. Since its development, users have accessed Special Education Law over half a million times.
Attorney Perlman frequently presents on special education and school discipline law at professional conferences and workshops and to SEPACs, nonprofits, and other organizations.
As a special education attorney, Attorney Perlman helps ensure that children with special needs receive the services and support they are entitled to under the law. He routinely represents and advises families on all aspects of special education disputes, including the team process (evaluations, eligibility, IEP development, program, and placement disputes), mediation, unilateral and out-of-district placements, litigation at the Bureau of Special Education Appeals, and settlement negotiation.
