Biography

Daniel N. Janich is managing principal and founder of Janich Law Group, a law firm serving the needs of businesses, executives and other professionals in employee benefits, executive compensation, and estate planning and administration. His legal experience has been acquired as a member of several large law firms in Chicago.

Mr. Janich counsels public and private corporations, executives and other business professionals on employment agreements, employee benefit plan design and administration, executive compensation arrangements, employee issues involving mergers and acquisitions, and business succession and estate planning strategies. His legal services are comprehensive in nature, covering tax, securities, and corporate law aspects of employee benefits, executive compensation and estate planning.

Mr. Janich has successfully represented corporate and individual clients in high exposure ERISA and other benefits litigation. The firm serves as benefits litigation counsel to other law firms and corporate law departments, and as mediator or arbitrator of executive compensation claims and other employee benefits disputes.

Mr. Janich is recognized nationally as a leader in the field of employee benefits law. He is a Fellow of the American College of Employee Benefits Counsel. He has been selected as an “Illinois Super Lawyer” for 2007 and 2008 in employee benefits and executive compensation. LexisNexis Martindale-Hubbell has issued an A-V peer review rating.

Recent speaking engagements include presentations at the annual conferences of the National Association of Stock Plan Professionals and the National Center for Employee Ownership, and the annual midwinter conferences of the Employee Benefits Committee of the Labor and Employment Law Section, American Bar Association. He has contributed articles on various employee benefits and executive compensation issues to trade and professional journals, including The Journal of Employee Ownership Law and Finance, Workspan, Family Advocate, and Profit Sharing; chapters to legal handbooks, such as Beyond Stock Options, Selected Issues in Stock Options, Selected Issues in Equity Compensation, and Equity Compensation for Closely Held Corporations; and a chapter on contingent workers in the legal treatise, ERISA Litigation. He is also a contributing author and associate senior editor of the legal treatise, Employee Benefits Law.
