Biography

Charles grew up in a family construction business and has been dealing with contracts and legal issues for over 30 years. He went to law school to reduce cost in the business, however during this time found a new passion in helping people through the legal hurdles that we all face at some point in time in our life.

Charles has been married to his wife Gina since 2003 and they have an adopted daughter whom they have had since birth. Actually since day one, as they were in the birthing room when she was born. Going through the adoption process has given us insight and experience from the clients view and understand the stress that comes along with an adoption, not to mention they have also undergone the stress of three failed IVF rounds, so understanding that stress and expense is nothing new to them either.

Charles focuses mostly on Family Law issues, such as Guardianships, Divorce, Custody or Visitation, and Adoptions. However, he is also very adept with Construction Law, general Business Law, and Tax Law.

286 Questions Answered
Q. If my son has no legal father on his birth certificate can my fiance adopt him? The biological father knows of my son.
A: Not while he is your fiancé / after you get married then you can do a step-parent adoption. But the biological father will still have to give consent or you will have to prove in court why his consent is not necessary. Contact a family lawyer/adoption attorney for your best course of action.
Q. Does new POA automatically cancel out old POA even though there is no clause to revoke ?
A: POAs are in effect until they are revoked typically. Not 100% of the time because there can be wording saying otherwise. Also if a person dies then the POA dies with them because the POA is only effective to act in the place of the person granting the POA in an action they could actually do themselves. ((If deceased they can’t act therefore the POA is silent as well)). Contact an attorney for your case specifics.
Q. Do I have to introduce my boyfriend to my child father first?
A: This should be in your divorce decree and/or parenting plan. The most common verbiage is that no one of the opposite sex can stay overnight - usually not just meeting. But you should contact a family law attorney to go over the specifics of your case.
