Shawn graduated from SUNY University at Buffalo Law School with honors. After practicing at a specialized Syracuse law firm he joined the Onondaga County District Attorney's Office in Syracuse, New York. There, Shawn honed his trial advocacy skills in the Special Victims Bureau and the Violent Crimes Bureau. Shawn moved back to his childhood home in the Hudson Valley and was an Assistant District Attorney for the County of Ulster. Thereafter, Shawn began practicing criminal defense law.

My dedication to immigration practice began many years ago when my mother and I adopted a Chinese refugee family from Vietnam. Then newly admitted to the New York Bar, I learned immigration law in order to assist all of "my family" to become U.S. citizens and then to sponsor other family members through the maze of the legal immigration process.
