Bethany received her Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science from Saginaw Valley State University and her Juris Doctor from Thomas M. Cooley Law School. She is a member of the American Bar Association and the State Bar of Michigan. Bethany currently serves as secretary for the Saginaw County Bar Association and Vice President for the Women Lawyer's Association of Michigan- Great Lakes Bay Region. Steven Kaplan, a 1981 honors graduate of Detroit College of Law, served as an assistant prosecuting attorney for Macomb County for 24 years, and for Wayne County for two years.
