I practice exclusively in the area of family law handling difficult child custody cases, complex equitable distribution matters, alimony, child support and prenuptial agreements. I am a board certified family law specialist and certified by the NC Dispute Resolution Commission as a Mediator.

I have been practicing family law since 2002, and I have handled cases in over a dozen jurisdictions in North Carolina.

Jon was born September 14, 1980. He is the son of the late, Perry Mitchell Welborn and Patricia Poteat Welborn of southeastern Wilkes County. Jon’s father, Perry, was an independent insurance agent in N. Wilkesboro. Perry worked for a number of years as a top selling agent for Farm Bureau prior to opening his own insurance company. Marie Hopper is a Chatham County native. She earned her law degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2004 and holds her undergraduate in History from Earlham College.
