In 1995, he became a Michigan State Police Trooper, and he was assigned to the South Haven Post where he investigated both traffic and criminal complaints. Steven Kaplan, a 1981 honors graduate of Detroit College of Law, served as an assistant prosecuting attorney for Macomb County for 24 years, and for Wayne County for two years. He has been a member of the M.S.U. College of Law faculty since 1998, teaching trial advocacy and advance evidence courses.
