I am currently serving as the Deputy Director of Legal Management at the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC). In this role, I assist in managing the operations of the SPLC’s legal department and coordinate programming for attorneys and law students. My professional background encompasses a variety of legal and advocacy work focused on economic justice, as well as habeas litigation for indigent petitioners. I earned my bachelor’s degree from Jackson State University and went on to receive a law degree from Harvard Law School. During my time at Harvard, I was actively involved in the Harvard Legal Aid Bureau.

Matt specializes in handling cases involving 18-wheelers and other commercial trucks within the firm. His deep understanding of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations plays a crucial role in investigating the causes of large truck accidents. Recognized for his expertise, Matt has delivered numerous seminar presentations on trucking litigation, and attorneys across Alabama frequently refer cases to him or seek his assistance in handling these complex matters.

Josh has devoted his career to addressing some of the most critical social issues of our time. As a Deputy Attorney General under Alabama Attorney General Steve Marshall, he played a key role in the state's fight against the opioid crisis, tackling the widespread consequences of overprescription, oversupply, and illegal distribution in local communities. Additionally, he has led high-stakes litigation against pornography companies to prevent them from profiting from sex trafficking and child exploitation. Through his dedication and advocacy, Josh remains committed to protecting Alabama’s future and standing up for those impacted by these crises.
