William Paul Rothrock

William Paul “Willy P” Rothrock is licensed to practice law in Florida. Willy P chose law as a second career after he retired from the U.S. Army as a Green Beret. He spent over 22 years in the Army leading, planning and executing operations critical to national security. Willy P served initially in the military as an Infantryman, and Ranger Instructor before becoming a Green Beret with 3rd Special Forces Group’s Operational Detachment Alpha (ODA) 3135. Willy P’s final military assignment was teaching military science to Junior Year Cadets, Cows, at The United States Military Academy at West Point, and coaching cadets aspiring to become Special Forcers Combat Divers. Having grown up wanting to be a Green Beret, achieving that goal and then some, Willy P had decided to grow up and get a job.
Having checked off the biggest boxes in his bucket list, Willy P added the legal profession to that list. Willy P believes that the legal profession is not that different from being a Green Beret. Both must understand their operational environment and recognize the political and long-term implications off their actions. They must facilitate interagency activities and engage each issue as a unique problem. They must be masters at being an active, nonjudgmental, listener when counseling or advising their clients. Both Green Berets’ and lawyers’ legitimacy relies on their credibility. They must always do what is right, especially when no one is watching. It is their credibility that enables their clients and others to trust them to solve their most important issues and confide in them their biggest problems.
He is a native Texan, born and raised in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex. Willy P graduated from Trinity High School in Euless, Texas and received a Bachelor’s of Science in Strategic Studies and Defense Analysis from Norwich University in Vermont. He used his veteran benefits to graduate debt free with a Juris Doctor from Florida Coastal School of Law.
