Biography

Attorney Tim Bottaro is a graduate of Creighton University (B.A. 1981) and the University of Iowa (J.D. 1983 With Distinction). He is admitted to practice law in the United States Appellate Court (8th Circuit) and United States Federal Court, as well as Iowa state courts. Tim handles primarily personal injury cases, such as car accidents, motorcycle accidents, semi accidents, bicycle accidents, pedestrian injury accidents, wrongful death claims, construction accidents, dram shop suits (vs. establishments who serve alcohol), slip and falls, and animal bites. He also handles insurance litigation and general litigation matters. With Tim, your consultation is always free!

Tim became a member of the Iowa Chapter of the American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA) in 2017. In order to become a member, he had to be nominated by another member after first trying a certain number of cases before a jury. He will serve as President of the ABOTA Iowa Chapter in 2021. Tim serves on the Third Judicial District Nominating Commission, which is responsible for interviewing candidates to fill judicial vacancies. Nominees are then selected from the candidates based on merit, and their names are forwarded to the Governor. Tim is also a member of the Iowa State Bar Association and was the recipient of their 1st Annual Community Service Award. In addition, Tim serves on the board of a number of charitable, community, and political organizations.

Tim is a longtime Siouxland area resident and wholeheartedly supports all of our local music, acting, and other programs for the arts. He is a big believer in health and fitness and loves to debate everything to do with politics. He can often be found scheming ways to prank his partners and staff, who sometimes manage to get him back. All jokes aside, Tim’s hunger for justice is unmatched. He will strive to set things right for you!

6 Questions Answered
Q. Can my dads friend come after me for $1100 to fix his truck after accident with a mini bike without an insurance claim?
A: If they turned the claim into their insurance company and it was paid, the insurance company would have a right to go after you for reimbursement.
Q. Sadly Tim I've already been through all that. They said anybody in the household 14 and older to be listed on the policy
A: I assume by your answer you are satisfied you have no insurance coverage for what happened. If this is the case then you are responsible for any negligence on your part and the damages you caused. You need to be given proof of the amount of the damages and the amount of his deductible. You use the figure $6,000.00 claimed and he say he has a $1,000.00 deductible. If this is correct then you would owe his insurance company the amount they paid-apparently $5,000.00-and the guy his deductible.
Q. I'm in Council Bluffs,IA
A: Just because your son is not on your policy doesn't necessarily mean he is not covered. Instead of relying only upon what the other driver is telling you, file a claim with your carrier. If they deny it they must tell you why and show you the language of the policy which they say supports their decision. You can request a copy of your policy in effect at the time of the collision to review it yourself.
