Stephen McArthur
Trademark, copyright, and brand protection attorney for software companies, techThe McArthur Law Firm works directly with software and videogame companies to create strategies to protect their brands against poachers and to protect their companies against frivolous intellectual property claims. Our passion and in-depth experience in intellectual property matters allows us to provide our clients with focused problem solving and specialized attention. By working with us, clients benefit from the expertise of an attorney long trained at the best law firms in the country without paying the megafirm expenses. We have represented clients across the technology spectrum, but particularly those associated with the interactive entertainment and software industries. Before I opened my own law firm, I was an attorney for several years each at the premier firms in the country: Cravath, Swaine & Moore in NYC and Irell & Manella in Los Angeles. I was also a member of the team that represented wireless device company BlackBerry as part of a consortium that purchased patents from Nortel Networks for $4.5 billion. The deal was one of the largest public sales of intellectual property assets in history and was the recipient of the M&A Deal of the Year Award. I earned my law degree from Columbia University School of Law where I was a Harlan Fiske Stone Scholar and served as Managing Editor of the Journal of Law and Social Problems.
