Sheryl attended Southern Methodist University School of Law, where she obtained her Juris Doctorate. Prior to law school, Sheryl completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Texas at Austin. Sheryl is licensed to practice law in Kansas and Texas.

Before becoming a Senior Associate Attorney with the Wichita office of Stange Law Firm, Sheryl spent six months as a Law Clerk with the firm. Prior to that, she served as an Associate Judge for the Collin County Probate Court beginning in 2011, where she presided over involuntary mental health commitment filings and hearings. Alongside her judicial work, Sheryl maintained a legal practice since 1993, representing clients in criminal, juvenile, and probate matters. Her extensive courtroom experience includes jury and bench trials, competency hearings, mental health proceedings, and contested motions. She is a strong advocate for rehabilitative options when appropriate, such as Drug Court, Veterans Court, and mental health services. Sheryl also has experience in condemnation cases, Child Protective Services matters, and has served as an Ad Litem in adoption, custody, guardianship, and personal injury cases, consistently focusing on protecting the rights and well-being of her clients.
