Shawn A. Jiles
Shawn graduated from the Thomas M. Cooley College of Law in December of 2002 with honors. During law school, Shawn was an editor of the Law Review, a member of the 60+ elder law clinic, and participated in the mock trial and moot court programs and competitions.
After graduation, Shawn moved to Central Florida and began his legal career working as a criminal defense attorney in Bartow, FL. Shawn represented clients charged with misdemeanors, DUI, felonies, including, life felonies, and murder. After two years, Shawn stopped working as a criminal defense attorney and started working at a local personal injury law firm. During his practice as a criminal Defense Lawyer, Shawn tried more than 40 cases in front of a jury and received favorable verdicts on the vast majority of those cases.
Shawn further perfected his trial skills by trying several civil cases to verdict over the last 18 years. Civil cases, unlike criminal cases, involve disputes between two or more people or companies regarding their legal rights. Both criminal and civil cases present unique legal issues that Shawn is well versed to handle.
In February 2014, Shawn opened JILES LAW P.A. Shawn brings more than 18 years of experience negotiating claims with insurance companies and trying cases against insurance companies to the practice areas of Personal Injury and Social Security Disability.
Shawn is very active in the community. He is a member of the Bartow Rotary Club and has previously served as President of the Rotary Club. Shawn has previously volunteered his time to teach high school students about the law, trial practice, and procedure. Shawn is a former member of the board of directors for Habitat for Humanity of East Polk County and a current member of the board of directors for Heartland for Children. Shawn is a very proud parent of a teenage daughter.
