Biography

The Law Offices of Sean R. Whitworth was founded by Sean R. Whitworth, and focuses exclusively on domestic family law issues and criminal law throughout the metro Atlanta area to include all surrounding counties. Sean has a diverse background that gives him a unique perspective when dealing with the complexities of litigation. His clients find he is able to explain the issues they will face with clarity and empathy. He is able to listen and understand what a client’s particular situation is and advise them as to the most productive and economical way to achieve that goal. After litigating hundreds of matters he is able to offer practical advice and find them the best long term solutions and the most economical path to these solutions, both economically and financially. Before practicing law he was a soldier in an armor brigade stationed in Germany and then a teacher teaching English in Atlanta high schools. He graduated law school at Georgia State University in 2000 and his initial career exposed him to many fields that are essential when practicing in the domestic arena. “These experiences broadened my perspective and understanding of myself and other people, qualities that are essential when dealing with people seeking relief during trying times. Having gained professional experiences in diverse backgrounds also provides knowledge that I find is essential in the domestic arena. All divorce attorneys should have a background in financial matters, real estate issues and sadly criminal matters. Often one or all of these issues arise and it is important that you can provide guidance above and beyond what is typical.” Attorney Whitworth is licensed to practice in the State of Georgia, as well as before the Court of Appeals of the State of Georgia. He is a member of the Collaborative Law Institute of Georgia, the Georgia Bar Family and Criminal Law sections and the American Bar Association Family and Criminal Law sections.

Professional Experience
owner attorney
The Law Offices of Sean R Whitworth LLC
Current
I started my office in 2009 when I decided to practice as a solo attorney focusing on family issues. I realized that I preferred the flexibility and personal relationships I could develop as a solo attorney that can never be established while navigating a shared office and partnerships. I am not burdened by excessive overhead and do not need to make billable hours the focus of my practice, instead I can focus on choosing the clients I wish to help and direct my attention to that representation. This is also why I started my practice using only flat fee billing. When I decided to practice family law I knew that best path was opening my own office and maintaining a presence that allows for the actual practice of family matters. These matters are unique and highly emotional and the last thing a client needs when dealing with a law firm or practice is to have questions answered with bills and meetings attended by the latest associate.
