Sean Patton
Sean B. Patton is an associate at Schoffstall Elder Law, LLC, a firm dedicated to the practice of elder and special needs planning law, guardianship, estate planning, and estate administration.
Sean retired from the USMC in 2022 after over twenty years of honorable service. During his time in uniform, Sean served around the world, supporting both conventional and special operations forces, including combat tours to both Iraq and Afghanistan.
Sean earned numerous commendations during his military career, but he takes great pride in two in particular. First, is the Judge Advocate Association’s Outstanding Career Judge Advocate Award for a “demonstrated record of outstanding professional accomplishments, service to community, service to the legal profession, and development of subordinates.” Second, is the SOCOM's Major General Garrison Award for excellence in legal support to Special Operations—Sean was the first Marine to be granted that honor.
Sean graduated from Parkland High School in Orefield, PA. He attained his B.A. in Economics and Japanese at the University of Massachusetts in Amherst, MA. He earned his J.D. at the Temple University Beasley School of Law in Philadelphia, PA. He obtained his LL.M at the Judge Advocate’s Legal Center and School in Charlottesville, VA.
Sean has a long history of community service dating back decades to his time in Big Brothers Big Sisters in North Philly. Since then, he has worked in various other youth programs including the Young Marines and has coached several different youth sports for which Sean was twice recognized by the Marine Corps with the Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal.
Sean was admitted to the Pennsylvania bar in 2002. Since then, he has practiced before several different military and federal courts and is admitted to the Navy-Marine Corps Court of Criminal Appeals, the United States Court of Appeals for the Armed Forces, and SCOTUS.
