Rick Kennon was appointed judge of the 368th District Court in 2013. His docket was comprised of civil, felony criminal, family, and child protective cases. He was the highest rated judge—as surveyed by the Williamson County Bar Association—in five consecutive bi-annual surveys.
Prior to his appointment, Rick was a trial attorney for 29 years. He began his legal career as a prosecutor in 1985 in Travis County and then worked as an Assistant Attorney General for the State of Texas. He also possesses a significant breadth of civil trial experience, with a notable track record of jury trials for plaintiffs and defendants. He retired from the bench in 2022 and is currently a visiting judge serving under a grant from the state of Texas to clear cases delayed due to COVID, and support a special SVU docket. He is also providing mediation, arbitration, conflict resolution, and judge consultation.
