Buying or selling a home is the most significant and daunting task most of us will ever face. Whether you're buying or selling your first home - or if you've done it before - you owe it to yourself to let Pete Weinman be your personal guide. Pete takes a very hands-on approach and will always be your only point of contact throughout the entire process, whether it's a house, a condominium, or a cooperative unit you're buying or selling. He'll return your calls promptly, won't rush you off the phone, and will explain everything to you as things progress.
Pete has been an active Richmond County Bar Association member since 2002, where he chairs the Technology Committee. He has been elected every three years to sit as a Director since 2011. Pete is also a founding member of New World Preparatory Charter School, Staten Island's first charter middle school, where, since 2008, he's sat on the Board of Trustees and chairs the Legal Committee.
Working full-time for Project Hospitality (feeding and helping the homeless, the mentally ill, and those affected by HIV/AIDS) from 1988 to 1995, Pete attended the College of Staten Island (CUNY) from 1985 to 1992, where he received his Bachelor’s Degree in English. Eight years later, continuing to work while attending classes at night, Pete received his JD from New York Law School in 2000. While attending New York Law School at night, Pete began working as a freelance “computer guy and law student.” He designed and automated databases, legal forms, and office documents/systems for many law firms located throughout the City of New York, some of which continue to use his automated forms to this day.

- Q. Can a landlord deduct from deposit Uber cost to Home Depot to buy materials to fix damage tenant caused.
- A: If the damages were sufficient to justify a deduction from the tenant's security deposit, I do not see a round-trip uber trip as unreasonable -- any more than if the landlord ordered the items to be delivered and had to pay a delivery fee.
- Q. I was approved for a loan. The company received money directly. I never received the procedure and I canceled In time
- A: You mention a procedure, so presumably, the loan company paid a doctor. Did you forget to tell the loan company you canceled the procedure with the doctor's office? Either way, you said you canceled "in time," so, if the doctor accepted the payment - even though you were not obligated to pay it - you should ask the doctor to return it. If not, you may need to sue her. How much money are we talking about?
- Q. What recourse do i have in regards to a return. Ordered a lawn tractor on line from manufacturer. item defective.
- A: Unfortunately, there's no great answer here. The cost to involve a lawyer will exceed the $500 you were hoping to save (and it won't make things happen any faster), and either way, you'd have no basis to sue anyone just because you need the money from the return before you can buy another mower. I think waiting for your credit card company to help you is probably the best option. I know it probably costs more to buy a mower in a local store than online, but in light of how badly this went, maybe the real lesson here is to shop locally (at least for big-ticket items). Good luck.
