Biography

Founded High Tide Legal Group, PC in 2020 to bring my unique blend of over 15 years of legal, business and entrepreneurial experience to clients throughout California. Offering legal services for all business transactional matters ranging from real estate matters, corporate formations, complex commercial transactions, EPC drafting and negotiation, and alternative energy and industry support and more.

From 2017 until 2020, I served as COO/Partner for GWC and GWL, a consulting company and law firm respectively, servicing clients throughout the State of California. From 2011 until 2017, I served as VP & Senior Legal Counsel of AP Wireless leading negotiations of international transactions related to telecommunication site acquisitions.

Prior to my time at AP Wireless, I served as a transactional attorney with over a decade of legal experience handling complex commercial transactions and negotiating a wide spectrum of deals for both private law firms and as an in-house counsel. I managed complex corporate transactions for two years at Greenberg Traurig, LLP ranging from healthcare company formation matters, to handling general corporate matters and spearheading several stock and asset purchase agreements. Thereafter, I worked as an associate in Kilpatrick Stockton’s capital markets department.

I served as General Counsel for Baran Americas, Inc., a large scale telecommunications and construction company headquartered in the outskirts of Atlanta, Georgia. During my time at Baran, I managed the company’s legal operations, which included preparation, review and negotiation of all contracts, leases and commercial agreements, as well as providing general corporate legal advice on all business and legal matters including internal policies and procedures, litigation management, immigration, vendor relations, labor and employment.

J.D. from Emory University School of Law in 2005, and his B.A. degree from Vanderbilt University in 2001. Licensed in GA and CA.

Q. In California is it legal for a landlord to ask for 1st months, last month's rent and security deposit. Rent is 2400
A: [Without further context just answering the question and please do not take as legal advice]

For residential leases in CA, Landlord's may request 2 months' of rent for deposit (or whatever they call it) in addition to the first month rent that is due. Therefore, in your example this would be acceptable. That said, everything is commercially negotiable. I hope this helps.
