Law Office of Matthew A. Martin, P.C.
Growing up, I was immersed in sports, which instilled in me a strong competitive drive. That same spirit led me to enroll in a Moot Court class competition during law school, where I argued appellate cases against fellow students before panels of guest judges and attorneys. I earned the school’s award for Best Oralist and received the Eve August Moot Court Scholarship for achieving the highest grade in the class. This success secured me a spot on my law school’s national moot court team, where we traveled across the country to compete. Our team won the regional competition and advanced to the national tournament in New York two consecutive years.
After graduating and passing the bar, I began my legal career as a prosecutor in Oakland County, Michigan—the second most populous county in the state. At that time, our office rarely extended plea offers, giving me early and extensive trial experience. I was quickly recognized for my courtroom skill and promoted to handle felony cases, eventually focusing exclusively on serious drug offenses. Over my 8 years in Oakland County, I prosecuted a wide range of major felonies including homicides, large-scale narcotics conspiracies, armed robberies, sexual assaults, and violent assaults.
In 2003, I relocated to Colorado and continued my work as a Deputy District Attorney in Douglas, Arapahoe, and Jefferson Counties. There, I expanded my trial experience handling serious offenses including sexual assaults, burglaries, robberies, and drug-related crimes.
In 2008, I established my own law practice in Denver, where I now represent individuals charged with DUIs, misdemeanors, and felonies. Drawing on 13 years of experience as a prosecutor, I bring a strategic advantage to my defense work. I understand how district attorneys think, what arguments they’re likely to make, and how to identify jurors favorable to our side. With over 150 jury trials under my belt, I spot issues many defense attorneys overlook. My competitive nature fuels
