Biography

For over 30 years I have been the voice in court for clients facing Domestic Violence criminal charges and Domestic Violence Protection Orders. DV cases are a large part of my and my firm's daily work, and I have secured hundreds of dismissed charges, reduced charges, no jail time and helped people get their lives back.

I am a Seattle-native and attended the University of Arizona on an athletic scholarship for swimming and was an honors student. I attended University of Washington School of Law for my JD. I've been diligent and hard-working in most everything I do and have been practicing criminal defense and domestic violence case representation since I started my career in 1994.

30+ years and hundreds of clients later, I have achieved a level of skill and effectiveness in strategies that create the best outcomes for my clients involved in domestic violence cases. Those outcomes protect my clients' from losing those things in life that are most dear and important to them.

Domestic violence cases are high stakes cases because of the personal impacts on families, relationships and children. Lives can be fractured, and relationships broken by a domestic violence case. Children need their parents and harmony in their lives so they can grow up healthy and with all the opportunity. The ability to keep home, job and even status in the country are so important to the individual, their loved ones and those who depend on them.

As a domestic violence attorney, I provide criminal defense representation, whether that be trial, motions to dismiss or negotiations, in municipal and district courts throughout King and Snohomish counties. I also appear in Superior Courts for felony criminal charges and Domestic Violence Protection Orders.

Please feel free to reach out to me to discuss how I might be able to help you.

Q. Can I legally be required to attend an arraignment for a crime I am accused of but haven’t been arrested/subpoened for ?
A: The prosecutor can file charges without notice to the accused person and then you have to participate in all aspects of the court process (namely, hearings). Even when someone is arrested and let go or they go to jail for a night and no charges are filed, they might be unpleasantly surprised down the line when a charge and summons comes in the mail. Whenever charges are filed, you have to respond to the court process and attending hearings. But, depending on what the charge is and the court your case is in, you might be able to have an attorney enter a plea of not guilty for you. Many courts are now letting many hearings to be handled with Zoom or WebEx. Again, it's very court and case specific on options. It's important to be very careful in determining when and how you have to show up because the judge can issue warrants for failures to appear (FTAs). ... Read More
