Lakeisha Simms Dunbar

I was born and raised in Tampa, where I attended Thomas Jefferson High School and earned a certificate from the International Academy of Law and Criminal Justice. My academic journey led me to Florida State University, where I pursued an undergraduate degree in Communications. During my time at FSU, I was actively involved in the Black Student Union Political Action Committee, Golden Key Honor Society, National Society for Collegiate Scholars, and Phi Eta Sigma Honor Society.
After completing my degree, I attended Stetson University College of Law in Gulfport, Florida. There, I studied various areas of law, including bankruptcy, family law, and children and the law. I served as President of the Black Law Students Association and interned with the Child Advocacy Clinic at the 6th Judicial Circuit Public Defender's Office. While pursuing my law degree, I also worked part-time in private practice before passing the Florida Bar and joining a firm as an Associate Attorney. Recently, I transitioned to a solo mobile practice focusing on Family Law, Elder Law, and Small Business Law.
I am a member of the Florida Bar's Young Lawyers Division, Legal Needs of Children Committee from 2014 to 2017, and the Family Law Section. I also volunteer as an Attorney ad Litem for children in foster care through Crossroads for Florida Kids.
My passion is helping each and every client achieve the best outcome possible—from receiving a fresh start after filing for bankruptcy to successfully negotiating a time-sharing schedule between ex-spouses. In my spare time, I enjoy traveling with my family and volunteering with the Junior League of Tampa.
