Kathryn N. Lewis
Kitroser Lewis & Mighdoll
“As an Assistant State Attorney, I spent years in the courtroom prosecuting those who took financial advantage of senior citizens. While it was incredibly rewarding to see justice served, I always wished I could have done something to help prevent the exploitation in the first place. Now, as an elder law attorney, I help my clients strategize and plan the best way to protect their assets from theft and fraud."
Kathryn N. Lewis earned her bachelor’s degree in 2004 from the Harriet L. Wilkes Honors College of Florida Atlantic University and her juris doctorate, cum laude, from Stetson University College of Law in 2008. While at Stetson, she served as the Articles & Symposia Editor for the Stetson Law Review.
Ms. Lewis began her legal career as an associate at a large law firm, but quickly transitioned into criminal law, serving as an Assistant State Attorney in Palm Beach County from 2009 to 2016. From 2012 to 2016, Ms. Lewis was a member of the State Attorney’s Office White Collar Crime Unit, which handles complex financial theft and fraud cases. Ms. Lewis was also primarily responsible for prosecuting crimes involving financial exploitation of the elderly, where she developed a special interest in the intersection of criminal, guardianship, and probate matters.
Ms. Lewis continues to serve on the State Attorney’s Elder Abuse Task Force, which coordinates the efforts of prosecutors, law enforcement, and other members of the community to safeguard elderly persons against both financial and physical abuse. Ms. Lewis has spoken about crimes against the elderly and white collar crimes to several organizations, including the Florida State Guardianship Association, the elder law section of the Palm Beach County Bar Association, the South County Probate Section of the Palm Beach County Bar Association, the Palm Beach County Economic Crimes Forum, and Palm Beach Atlantic University.
