Karen Hummel
Karen is the owner of Hummel Law, LLC. She has been an attorney since 2012, and practices mainly in the area of family law. She also practices in the areas of juvenile law and estate planning.
Karen graduated from Cleveland State University with a B.A. in English in 1997, and from The University of Akron School of Law with a J.D. Degree in 2012.
Karen has over fifteen years of experience in the legal field. For eight years, she worked as a Legal Assistant then as a Law Clerk. She attended law school in the evenings. She is a member of the Ohio State and Cleveland Metropolitan Bar Associations. Karen represents clients in the following counties: Cuyahoga, Lake, Geauga, and Ashtabula.
From the start of her law practice, Karen has remained focused primarily on family law matters including divorce, dissolution and child custody. She is dedicated to guiding her clients through their cases by helping them understand the options available to them. Karen understands that many clients may not have been involved with the legal system, and she believes that clients should feel comfortable communicating with their attorney so that their questions get answered in plain language.
If your child is involved in a juvenile court case, you may be feeling overwhelmed by the court process. Karen represents children, parents or guardians in juvenile court proceedings and she has the experience to advise her clients regarding the best course of action for their situation. Reducing her client’s fear by explaining what happens at the different hearings is key.
Karen assists clients with basic estate planning by preparing Wills, Living Wills, Healthcare Powers of Attorney and Financial Powers of Attorney. She asks you a series of questions designed to determine your wishes and goals. Her estate planning documents are carefully prepared and fully explained to you so that you know how your estate will be distributed.
