I am an experienced (28 years) personal injury lawyer who is dedicated to the practice of law and to my clients. While most cases resolve before trial, we aggressively prepare all of our cases so that, if a favorable settlement cannot be obtained, we are ready to go on the offensive from the beginning of the litigation process until its conclusion. We handle personal injury and accident cases (automobile, bicycle, pedestrian, slip and fall) in all areas of Maryland, Washington, DC, and Northern Virginia, in both state and federal courts.
As a small firm, we're able to give your case the personal attention it deserves. My team and I will handle your case from start to finish, and -- unlike many Washington, DC personal injury lawyers at large firms -- you'll never be passed off to a law clerk or a paralegal. That personalized attention is one reason why I have been named a top personal injury attorney by Washingtonian Magazine the last 7 times they have reviewed attorneys. Additionally, I was awarded the prestigious 'AV' rating from Martindale-Hubbell -- their highest possible rating for legal ability and ethics. I also have a 10.0/10.0 (superb) rating from Avvo.com, a professional review site for attorneys and doctors. Not that all of this isn't important, but nothing is more important than reviews. Please read my reviews on Google and Avvo.
We're located in downtown Washington, DC, one block from the Metro, and would be happy to to discuss your case. Initial consultations are free. Call us at 866-463-0303.

- Q. I was turning right at an intersection + a truck was driving on my right, in a location marked as a city bus stop. I had
- A: I agree with Mr. Scherr's assessment. Additionally, you may be barred from any recovery from the truck's insurer (for both property damage and any injuries you may have suffered) due to contributory negligence. You stated that the truck was "driving" and not stopped. If you contributed to the collision, even if the truck was improperly in the bus lane, you may not have a claim. There are a lot of moving parts, and you would need to provide additional information to an attorney to get a definitive assessment.
- Q. Why dose lawyer need my tax returns for lawsuit involving child sexual abuse?
- A: Are you suing someone for child sexual abuse? If so, your lawyer is probably asking for your tax returns either to prove your loss of income, or because you have claimed loss of income and the other side is asking for them (and would almost certainly be entitled to them). If this isn't why, you will need to more information.
- Q. My grandma lives in an elderly care facility and she falls at least twice a year. Can we sue for negligence?
- A: You would have to provide a lot more information for a personal injury lawyer to be able to make even a preliminary determination. The hard truth is that elderly people fall frequently, without anyone being negligent. There are lawyers who handle a lot of nursing home negligence cases (I'm not one of them). You should call one of these attorneys to discuss whether your grandma may have a claim.
