Ivan Enrique Mercado

Mr. Ivan Mercado was born in the Dominican Republic and grew up in the United States. Mr. Mercado is a graduate of Brandeis University in Waltham, MA; Northeastern University School of Law, in Boston, MA; and also has a LL. M. in Human Rights, which he received in 2005, graduating summa cum laude and Valedictorian of his class at Saint Thomas University School of Law in Miami, FL. Mr. Mercado began his legal career in 1996, as a law clerk to the Justices of the Superior Court of Massachusetts. After completing his one year clerkship with the Superior Court, Mr. Mercado began working in the law firm

McBride & Associates, in Boston, Massachusetts, a law office specializing in criminal cases. In 1998, Mr. Mercado became a partner of Keefe & Mercado, working on criminal and personal injury cases. In 2000, Mr. Mercado partnered with Ms. Rengel to work on criminal, immigration, civil litigation and “high end” personal injury cases. Mercado & Rengel, P.A. relocated to Miami, Florida in October 2001 with Mr. Mercado continuing to focus on criminal and civil litigation. Mr. Mercado has experience practicing in various jurisdictions of the United States including Massachusetts, Florida, New Jersey, Maine, Puerto Rico, New Hampshire, Connecticut, and New York. He has handled cases in state courts, federal courts, appeals courts, and state supreme courts. Mr. Mercado has represented clients in hundreds of major felonies in his career. Mr. Mercado has also handled cases involving trans-national issues such as extradition and related matters for clients from Mexico, Colombia, Russia, Dominican Republic and elsewhere. Mr. Mercado is now based in Madrid, Spain to more effectively handle transnational legal matters.
