- Q. If I’ve never had an offense before or been pulled over and got a ticket for texting a driving do i get points?
- A: I don't know where that other lawyer got his information from. But its no points for a first or 2nd offense and a 3rd offense or more has 3 points. Here is what is says directly on the MVC website: Use of a handheld cellphone or electronic communication device while driving: 3 Points are assessed against 3rd offense occurring within 10 years of a second offense and all subsequent offenses thereafter.* Now your insurance company may treat you differently, but for MVC purposes a first offense has no points.
- Q. What kind of lawyer handles theft by a towing company?
- A: Generally you would want a civil litigation lawyer to handle this type of matter. But even if you call the wrong lawyer many times they can refer you to someone who does.
- Q. Will I be contacted by the Prosecutor to discuss being a witness in an assault charge I filed against my husband?
- A: Generally the prosecutor will contact you, but lots of time they don't contact you until the day of court. They don't really go over you testimony with you, but do ask some questions if they are interested in pursing the case. For that you may want your own private lawyer.
