8 Questions Answered

Q. Can I get a lawyer when pressing charges for domestic violence?
A: Yes. In Michigan there is essentially a no tolerance stance when the police are called to a domestic violence incident and more often than not someone is going to jail and getting charged. Depending on your story and what outcome you wish to have would make it necessary for you to hire a experienced criminal defense attorney that will seek to achieve your desired outcome. If you have further questions and would like to discuss the case in confidence feel free to reach out and we can schedule a call or a free consultation to further examine your case and give you sound legal advice.
Q. Can you help Or should I have an Attorney during questioning
A: Get an attorney at this point.
Q. Can I get a DUI if I didn't even realize the punch I'd been drinking was spiked? I didn't feel drunk at all.
A: Yes
Q. My son is 15 being charged with resisting arrest and disorderly, tested positive for marijuana
A: Two legal issues to address: marijuana positive test and the resisting and obstructing arrest. Based on my experience and the juvenile record and psychological evaluation we could get him on a deferred sentence that would get both charges dismissed. I have handled many cases like this and offer a free consultation. Feel free to contact me anytime if you have any questions via call/text at 248.470.4300
Q. I left the bar last night, don't remember leaving. Drove home. Cops showed up at door and impounded my car from driveway
A: Feel free to text or call me to discuss your issue at 1-248-470-4300 to discuss your options.
Q. Fiance being charged with felonious assault and domestic violence against me
A: I could best answer your questions if you can contact me at(248) 470-4300
Q. Do you have a right to refuse a field sobriety test?
A: Yes you have the right to refuse the Feild Sobriety Test. However, at the Law Offices of Derrick E George PC we do not recommend refusing as you face a hard 1 year license suspension for failure to comply. Regardless, the officer can draw blood and get results that way after obtaining a warrant in most circumstances.
Q. Can I claim I didn't know the law if I'm a resident of another state and am pulled over with a blood-alcohol level
A: No. Ignorance of the law is not a defense.
