Derek M. Adams is a partner in the firm’s False Claims Act (FCA) and Litigation practice groups. Mr. Adams represents companies, individuals, non-profit and for-profit organizations, universities, and local governments facing a variety of investigations and legal actions under the FCA, and related statutes.
Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Adams served as a Trial Attorney with the Department of Justice (DOJ), Civil Fraud Section, where he worked on numerous complex cases under the FCA and the Financial Institutions Reform, Recovery, and Enforcement Act of 1989 (FIRREA). In under five years, his matters recovered more than $2 billion for the public fisc.
Mr. Adams began his legal career at a leading Am Law 50 law firm, representing clients in high-stakes litigation, including allegations of securities fraud, common law fraud, fraudulent inducement, breach of contract, and breach of fiduciary duty.
Mr. Adams is a speaker at national fraud conferences and provides training on the FCA and FIRREA.
