I have handled a wide range of cases, from murder to traffic tickets and everything in between. I completed my undergraduate studies in philosophy and religion in 2005. Between 2005 and 2010, I explored wine making in Oregon, my home state, before engaging in a legal battle against the EPA in Tennessee in 2011, which led to the issuance of the first emissions permit for a human crematory in the United States—it's a long story.
I began my legal education at the University of Maine School of Law in 2013. During my final year, I served as a student attorney and was honored with the C.A.L.I award for my performance in general practice. After graduating from Maine Law and passing the bar exam, I was admitted to practice in Maine in 2015 and to the Federal bar in 2018.
I have received special training in OUI detection through a three-day, NHTSA-approved course. In 2022, I attended the National Criminal Defense College in Rhode Island for two weeks, where I further developed my trial advocacy skills. I have been recognized twice by the Maine Supreme Court as Katahdin counsel in 2016 and 2017 and was a junior member of the Edward Thaxter Gignoux Inn of Court. I am a member of the Maine Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, and for nearly a decade, I was recognized by the National Academy of Criminal Defense Attorney as one of the Top 10 attorneys under 40 in Maine. Now at 42, I have aged out of that honor.
After several years of practicing in Portland, I relocated my practice to Rockland, where 99% of my work is dedicated to criminal defense. When not working, I enjoy traveling, fly fishing, camping, being on the water, and generally engaging in outdoor activities.
