Biography

David J. Dischley is a highly experienced criminal defense attorney and the founder of Dischley Law, PLLC. With nearly 15 years of practice, he has established a formidable presence in Virginia’s legal landscape, defending clients against a wide range of criminal charges in both state and federal courts.

Attorney Dischley's journey in law began with his graduation cum laude from Northern Virginia Community College with an Associate of Applied Science in administration of justice. He then earned his Bachelor of Science in the same field from George Mason University, followed by his Juris Doctor from the Antonin Scalia Law School at George Mason University. While in law school, he was actively involved in the Trial Lawyer’s Association and gained practical experience by leading over 100 bench trials under the supervision of licensed attorneys.

Before founding his firm, Dischley served as a prosecutor in Fauquier and Loudoun counties, where he honed his skills and gained deep insights into the prosecution’s strategies. His background also includes serving in the U.S. Marine Corps and working in various law enforcement capacities, further enriching his understanding of the criminal justice system from multiple perspectives.

David Dischley’s practice covers a broad spectrum of criminal cases, including DUI and DWI, reckless driving, drug charges, property crimes, and fraud. He is also skilled in handling expungements, helping clients clear their records. His dedication to providing high-quality legal counsel has earned him a Superb rating on Avvo and recognition in The National Trial Lawyers: Top 100.

In addition to his legal practice, Dischley is actively involved in the community, offering legal services to members of the Southern States Police Benevolent Association, Inc., and serving as an advisor to a local police department. He frequently shares his expertise through writing and speaking engagements, contributing to the broader legal community.

2 Questions Answered
Q. Can I move out on probation if I’m considered ‘low-risk’ at 18?
A: Assuming you are 18 years old and on adult probation, the probation officer shouldn't have to contact your mother. Provided you are not ordered to remain in your current residence, talking through this issue with the Probation Officer should result in you being able to move provided it is in the same jurisdiction and you are not moving out of state.
Q. I'm in the military and found guilty of DUI in 2012. How can I reinstate my driving privileges in Virginia?
A: Unfortunately, in Virginia, you will have to comply with the DMV requirements to get reinstated. This is going to include, paying a reinstatement fee, attending VASAP, and carrying FR-44 insurance for 3 years. DMV makes it difficult to on out of state people.
