Christopher Light has dedicated his life to helping people and defending their rights and interests, often times, in cases where no one else would. Widely revered for his trial advocacy, Mr. Light has quickly established himself as one of Colorado’s most accomplished trial lawyers. Selected by his peers as a Super Lawyers Rising Star, an honor that is limited to 2.5% of attorneys in Colorado, Mr. Light has also been recognized by the National Trial Lawyers Association as a “Top 40 Under 40” trial attorney and the American Institute of Personal Injury Attorneys has selected him to their prestigious “10 Best” List.
Mr. Light honed his trial advocacy skills while litigating thousands of criminal cases across the state of Colorado as a Deputy State Public Defender in the Glenwood Springs, Alamosa, and Denver regional offices of the Colorado State Public Defender. Known for his zealous trial advocacy, Mr. Light has tried a wide-array of high-stakes jury trials including homicides, sex assaults, and assault on peace officer cases. He has secured acquittals and dismissals for individuals facing significant sentences, including indeterminate life sentences. Mr. Light has also tried a significant number of DUI/DWAI jury trials and has given trainings to other attorneys on alcohol breath testing defenses. Mr. Light left the Colorado State Public Defender in 2015, forming a client-centered solo practice while continuing to represent indigent defendants facing high-stakes felony charges as Alternate Defense Counsel.
Since that time, Mr. Light has expanded his practice of representing individuals to include fighting for employee/workers and individuals and families who have been harmed by the carelessness/recklessness of others in civil actions across Colorado and California. Mr. Light has secured hundreds of thousands of dollars in settlements for victims of misclassification (representing employees who were purposely misclassified as independent contractors).
