I began my career in banking in the Mortgage Servicing Department of Bank of New England. I was quickly promoted to the supervisor of the Audit and Control Department. After a year or so, I transferred to the Audit Department where I would remain for eight years surviving the failure of the bank and many acquisitions by the Fleet Financial Group following the take over. I transferred to the Treasury and Capital Markets Department in 1994 and remained there until the merger between Fleet and BankBoston. I was responsible for the documentation department for products bought and sold such as swaps, foreign exchange and repurchase agreements. My success in that department influenced my decision to attend law school.
