Brett C Coonrod

I graduated from the University of North Texas and the University of Kansas School of Law. With over 40 years of legal practice, I have represented both plaintiffs and defendants in a diverse array of cases, including simple automobile incidents, franchise disputes, and complex tort litigation. I hold licenses in both Kansas and Missouri state and federal courts, and my litigation experience extends across the United States.

Currently, my focus is on providing alternative dispute resolution services through Innovative Dispute Resolution, LLC. I am an approved mediator in core, domestic, and civil mediation according to the Kansas Supreme Court's regulations and am recognized as a Mentor Mediator in Kansas, which allows me to educate aspiring mediators. I am also part of the panel of neutrals for the US District Court for the Western District of Missouri. My role as an arbitrator includes affiliations with the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA), where I am qualified to serve as panel chair and handle expungement requests. Additionally, I am a neutral for National Arbitration and Mediation, and I appear on the arbitrator rosters for Arbitration Resolution Services and the National Futures Association.

I co-coordinate and volunteer as a mediator for the Johnson County, Kansas District Court’s Limited Actions Mediation Project and teach Civil Mediation at Johnson County Community College in Overland Park, Kansas. As a licensed real estate agent in both Kansas and Missouri, I offer a distinctive perspective in mediations related to real estate. To enhance convenience and reduce costs, I provide remote mediation services.
