A graduate of University of Texas School of Law, I have practiced in Tarrant and surrounding counties for years. Family and friends here. As a very young lawyer, I tried the first sexual harassment case Tarrant County had ever seen and much to the surprise of my older, mainly male colleagues, a Tarrant County jury awarded my client twice what we asked for! I've been on the forefront of a few other issues over the years and do not avoid controversy. Practicing on my own gives me the freedom to take cases that interest me. My docket today is primarily employment cases, family law cases and probate and estate. I've enjoyed a varied practice and have avoided specialization that requires one to work predominantly in one area of the law.
Besides being independent, I do my best to practice law with integrity, understanding that I owe clients complete candor. I was taught in law school to respect the fact that the case doesn't belong to me; it belongs to the client.
I was also taught in law school to innovate to try to bring about change. That's how I won the sexual harassment case in 1984. Using innovative techniques helped me force a fake abortion clinic to advertise themselves honestly instead of holding themselves out as an abortion clinic.
And, I'm persistent. Settled the 2nd largest case in Texas in 2001, with a gross recovery to three families of over 17 million dollars. I was one of several attorneys, but we worked together amazingly well.
I love practicing law (on most days) and intend to continue doing so as long as possible.
