Biography

Attorney Andrew Popp focuses his law practice on Elder Law and Estate Planning. He is results-oriented, relying on his exceptional legal knowledge and successful litigation techniques to achieve results.

Andrew obtained his bachelor’s degree from the University of South Florida. He then attended Stetson Law School, where he acquired his Juris Doctor with a concentration in advocacy.

While at Stetson, he received numerous awards, including the Doyle Conflict Resolution Inc. Top Grade Award and the Leadership Development certificate.

Upon graduation, Andrew served as an Assistant State Attorney. He handled criminal cases from initial investigation through trial and appeals and prosecuted hundreds of misdemeanor and felony cases. He gained extensive first and second chair trial experience in both bench and jury trials.

After leaving the prosecutor’s office, Andrew decided to dedicate his career to assisting clients with Elder Law Issues. Motivated by his passion for defending his clients’ interests, he acquired an in-depth knowledge of wills, trusts, probate, estates, and Medicaid planning.

Andrew is well versed in the various techniques available to protect his client’s assets from being taken away upon entering a nursing home.

He has seen far too many examples where families have waited too long to set their affairs in order, and the damage it can cause. He provides Ohio residents with advice on proper planning concerning their hard-earned assets.

212 Questions Answered
Q. Should all siblings STILL split the money from parents house that died if one sibling bought it???
A: Probate can be a messy and complex process. There are no simple answers to your question. A more detailed look at the specific circumstances would be needed to determine if the estate has been or is being administered properly. You may want to find a probate attorney who practices in the County where the Case is open to discuss.

Best of luck.
Q. How to best handle a small estate in Ohio, with only non Ohio heirs?
A: It sounds like the estate may qualify for a simplified proceeding to handle the vehicle. Unfortunately, a Court process is still involved. Depending on what estate documents are in place you may need to retain local counsel to handle the matter for you.

I recommend setting up a consultation with an attorney, (likely virtual due to distances), to discuss your circumstances in more detail.

Best of luck.
Q. My father passed away in early November 2023. I've filed with the probate court to be named administrator. What else?
A: Here in Ohio the answer depends on a number of factors. Being appointed the administrator of the estate is a good first step. If the sibling has established residency you may need to commence eviction proceedings to get them to leave.

All in all, I recommend sitting down with a qualified attorney to review the situation and advise you.

Best of luck.
