
Alisha Esselstein

Alisha earned her Bachelor of Arts in International Relations from Augsburg University in Minneapolis, Minnesota graduating Manga Cum Laude. She lived and studied international law and relations in Nairobi, Kenya and Cuernavaca, Mexico. She continued with her goal of helping others as she entered the University of Wisconsin Law School earning her Juris Doctor and Certificate in International Law. After her first year in law school, Alisha traveled to Sri Lanka to work for the summer with the Law and Society Trust in Sri Lanka. Her focus was on women's rights as she worked through research and reports to remove discriminatory aspects from the country's constitution and implement equal opportunities.
Alisha then worked at the International Center for Transitional Justice during her 2L summer in Manhattan, NY. She worked in the Gender Justice Department where she helped create gender sensitive prosecution trainings for UN Women. She finished law school at the University of London SOAS studying human rights law.
Along with enjoying studies, family, and travel, Alisha proudly received the Richard Bilder International Law Scholar Award. Also, she was awarded the Gracie Public Service Fellowship award, the Women, Well-Being, Wisconsin and the World (4W) Scholar, Association for Women Lawyers Scholar award, among many others through the University of Wisconsin Law School. She also actively coordinated seminars on "Women Working for Women in the Public Interest" and "International Advocacy Against Gender Based Violence."
